Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate values, the end markets we serve and how we manage our business. The environment plays a leading role in every decision we make, and we continually look to enhance our product quality and manufacturing efficiency through processes and capital investments that reduce our environmental impact.
Aluminum is infinitely recyclable, which makes it an inherently sustainable material. Our products, and the way we produce them, mean that we have a critical role to play in the transition to a lower carbon future.
We believe we must continuously earn the right to operate in the communities we do by practicing sound resource management, reducing emissions, and limiting waste and water use.
Using cleaner energy sources
We recently completed a project in our Warrick facility enabling us to utilize grid energy with lower emissions intensity in place of coal-fired power. The project will reduce the plant’s Scope 2 GHG emissions and carbon intensity by an estimated 50%.
At all of our casting facilities, we introduced a strategic initiative to reduce our use of carbon-intensive primary aluminum sources – a significant portion of our Scope 3 emissions.
