Aerospace and
High Strength

Kaiser Aluminum has a long history in aerospace and defense applications. From World War II aircraft to modern-day advanced fighter jets, and early spaceflight programs in the 1960s to the latest spacecraft technology, aluminum produced by Kaiser has been onboard.

In the last decade, we’ve more than doubled our aerospace/high strength capacity and capabilities while enhancing product quality. Aluminum’s high strength-to-weight ratio makes it an ideal material for structural applications, helping create more efficient aircraft with less waste. In the aerospace and high strength end market, we are working with our customers to create closed-loop recycling partnerships to reduce our utilization of primary aluminum so together we can reduce emissions.

For Kaiser, circularity is more than a consideration – it’s the way we do business. Across our operations and product lines, we work with customers, suppliers and industry partners to promote recycling and increase our use of recycled aluminum content to the maximum extent possible.

For example, we’ve partnered with one long-time aerospace customer to revert pre-consumer recycled aluminum content back into the Kaiser manufacturing process with no effect on final strength or quality – an advantage for the environment and our customers.
